Getting to Minca

Getting to Minca is easy from anywhere in the world, and an even easier trip from Cartagena, Barranquilla, or Santa Marta.

Travel times from Private Car Bus
Cartagena to Minca 3 hours 6 hours
Barranquilla to Minca 1.5 hours 3 hours
Santa Marta to Minca 30 minutes 1 hour

Directions by Private Car:
The road to Minca is paved and the town is easily accessible by car. 4 wheel drive and high road clearance is not required until you reach El Campo (above Minca) or are planning on driving the side roads.  When coming from Cartagena/Barranquilla travel in the direction Santa Marta.  Before you enter Santa Marta, keep to the right by following the signs to Riohacha. You will see a large sign "Minca".  Turn right after the gas station and follow the road until you reach Minca. If you miss the turn to Minca you will soon reach a toll plaza. You have gone to far.

Bus Terminal Santa Marta- Mercado Santa Marta (with collective taxi) CO$1,000

Private Transport Companies
For a little more you can travel with one of the private tourist transport organizations.  These companies feature air-conditioned vans that carry around 6-8 passengers. You can find these companies near the Cartagena and Barranquilla airport. These vans provide door-to-door service and drive you directly to where the transport leaves from Santa Marta to Minca. You will still have to change van in Barranquilla.

Your location in Cartagena (change bus in Barranquilla)- Santa Marta Mercado CO$ 50,000
Mercado Santa Marta - Minca CO$3,000
