Nested in the rainforest of the snow capped Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Minca is located just 30 minutes from the costal city of Santa Marta, Colombia.  At an altitude of 650m over sea level, and an average temperature of 22C, Minca provides a refreshing change to the heat, hustle, and dust of the Caribbean coast.

Minca, although a town of only 600 friendly inhabitants, has a large selection of hotels, motels, and hostels to serve your needs.

Birding enthusiasts can expect to find Keel-billed Toucan, Masked Tityra, Blue-crowned Motmot, Crested Oropendola, Golden-winged and Black-striped Sparrow, Rufous-capped Warbler, Yellow-backed Oriole, Cinereous Becard and many, many more birds. more about birds...

The  Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain range in the world and includes almost all climatic zones across a strip only 17 miles as the crow files, from the Caribbean Sea to the perpetual snow and glaciers.

The surrounding forests are, to this day, inhabited by the Kogi Indian Tribe.

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is home to a large variety of orchids, heliconias, and bromeliads
